Singua, loofah, luffa or boub (as known in Thailand) is a type of gourd. Most people probably known or seen loofah in a form of bath products. The mature loofah forms fiber mesh that’s great for scrubbing your back. The young and tender on the other is an excellent, versatile vegetable. Young loofah will be somewhat flexible, dark green and has sharp and high ridges.
Traditionally, loofah has ridges that runs along its length. The ridges are sliced off. I now see a new loofah variety without ridges. I guess it’s similar to seedless watermelon, easier to eat!
