Fish paste can be found at an oriental grocery. It usually comes in a plastic container, 3 inch x 4 inch x 3 inch. Choose the one that has only fish as ingredient. Some have other seasonings such as salt, sugar etc. They don't keep for very long. Try to cook it the day you buy it. There is also a frozen one from Thailand.
